Order samplesZaanse fireplace
Stove, fireplace, in the earlier Zaanish building tradition called "smuiger".
The wide, tiled chimneys up to the ceiling are considered to be specifically Zaanish.
At the top, they were provided with a forward curving 'crest' in order to maximise heat emission.
The iron floor plate was also used for foot heating. A fire plate was always placed around the fire niche to protect the tiles of the smuiger.
